What is SLS?
Sodium Lauryl Sulphate is a cheap chemical agent that’s used for cleaning and cosmetics. Essentially it helps to make soaps ‘froth’. It has been used as a shampoo ingredient since the 1930’s as an alternative to soap. It can be derived from petroleum, coconut oil or palm oil. SLS is an effective foaming agent, providing lots of bubbles and cleaning power. So it’s used in everything from floor cleaners to shampoos, SLS can irritate skin and eyes, if you have eczema, psoriasis or sensitive skin, you may prefer to avoid it.
We made the decision to make sure all our products were SLS free a few years ago now because we know so many people suffer with sensitive skin and we want them to be able to enjoy our products and also children can use them, and it’s good to see a lot of bigger companies have stopped using it. Even without SLS you get the lather and froth you need.
Very interesting I did not know that about soap 😄
